光の中を歩む — Walking in the Light

In the Gospel of John, Jesus declares: "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life." (John 8:12). These words, spoken two thousand years ago, remain as fresh and alive as ever — a promise that meets us in every season of life.

When Life Feels Dark

Many of us go through periods where the path ahead seems unclear. Perhaps you are facing a difficult decision, a strained relationship, a health challenge, or simply the weariness that comes from daily life. In these moments, it can be tempting to rely entirely on our own understanding — to search frantically for answers without pausing to seek God's guidance.

The Psalmist understood this deeply: "Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path." (Psalm 119:105). Notice that the lamp is for our feet — not a floodlight illuminating the entire road ahead, but a gentle glow showing us the very next step. God rarely reveals the whole journey at once. He asks us to trust Him one step at a time.

Three Practices for Walking in the Light

  1. Daily Scripture Reading: Open the Bible each morning, even for just five minutes. Let God's Word orient your heart before the demands of the day take over. A short passage read slowly and prayerfully can illuminate the entire day.
  2. Honest Prayer: Light thrives in honesty. Bring your real fears, doubts, and hopes to God. He already knows them — but the act of naming them in prayer releases their grip on us and invites God's peace to enter.
  3. Community: We are not meant to walk alone. Hebrews 10:25 reminds us not to give up meeting together. In the fellowship of other believers, we find encouragement, accountability, and the reminder that we are part of something far larger than ourselves.

A Word for Our Church Family

Here at Tosu Chapel, we are a community of people at different places on the journey — some walking confidently, others taking tentative steps, and some just beginning to seek the light. That is the beauty of the Body of Christ. We hold the light for one another.

Whether you have been a follower of Jesus for decades or you are simply curious about what it means to believe, you are welcome here. Come as you are. Walk with us. The light is for everyone.

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You that You are the Light that no darkness can overcome. In the moments when we cannot see clearly, help us to trust You with the next step. May our lives reflect Your light to those around us — in Tosu, in Saga, and beyond. Amen.
